Kendra Umstead
Owner/Manicurist/Makeup Artist
Kendra founded Studio Salon in 2004 and transformed it into Studio Salon & Spa as it is today. Kendra enjoys networking with local businesses, as well as the ever-changing challenges of being a business owner in the beauty field.
Kendra started in the beauty business in 1994 as a manicurist after leaving the corporate world to pursue entrepreneurship. With an eye for detail and a tendency towards perfectionism, she found doing nails a perfect fit. Kendra has many longtime clients who have seen her regularly during her 15 years in business. Kendra is also a Studio Salon & Spa Makeup Artist, and was selected to do makeup artistry for the Eco-Fashion article in the premier issue of Newburyport Magazine.
Currently residing on Plum Island, Kendra likes to play fetch on the beach with her Boston Terrier and entertain friends and family as often as possible. Kendra is so bad at Guitar Hero that she just watches and cheers on her girls, but she does have a thing for Dance Dance Revolution…
Christina McGilvray
Eyebrow Extraordinaire/Esthetician/Makeup Artist
Christina is our resident “eyebrow rehabilitator” as well as our skin care and makeup specialist. With a multitude of skin care certification classes under her belt, Christina’s real passion is eyebrows. She trained with Anastasia Beverly Hills and learned to not “just wax” eyebrows, but to rehabilitate them.
Christina’s accolades include doing the “Rock and Roll” bride’s makeup in North Shore Magazine’s Bridal Issue, and having her facials and body treatments featured in the “Pamper Me Please” section of the Marblehead Reporter.
At home on Plum Island, Christina loves to cook like Ina Garten, clean like Martha Stewart, and snuggle with her little dog Toast. Christina’s motto: “I’ll try anything once, and then a second time just to make sure I didn’t like it the first time.” Christina’s favorite video game is Mario Cart, but she will take on a Guitar Hero duel with Stephanie… |
